GSTAT Issues Dress Code for Tribunal Members During Court Proceedings

The President of the GST Appellate Tribunal(GSTAT) has issued an official order informing the dress code for the members of the Tribunal during the court proceedings of this appellate Tribunal. This direction was issued through Office Order No. 114/2025 dated 30th June 2025.

As per the order, the president of GSTAT, under the provisions in Rule 121 of the GSTAT procedural Rules 2025, has prescribed the following dress code to be observed by the Hon’ble President and Hon’ble Members during proceedings.

  • Judicial Members and the President: same dress code as Judges of the Supreme Court or High Courts, excluding the gown.
  • Technical Members (Male): They are required to wear white, striped, or black trousers, with a black coat over a white shirt and a black necktie or a buttoned-up black coat.
  • Technical Members (Female): For females, they must wear a black overcoat over a black, white, or lightly printed saree
  • Members wearing turbans: They must wear white or light-coloured turbans.

The order states that this dress code will be observed with immediate effect.
